Interview with Jamea Jackson
Memphis WTA First Round
Jamea Jackson def. Amy Frazier(2) 7-6(7-4), 0-6, 6-3
Sunday February 13, 2005
Q: In your young career this is your biggest win?
A: Yes this is by far the biggest win I've had...Amy Frazier...top 30. She's a great player.
She's been playing about 13 years. To beat her is a real accomplishment, you know, obviously
the biggest one of my career.
Q: You won the first set. The second set was a different story against the number two seed.
A: Yes. I mean I felt like I really fought hard in the first set and I had a bit of a let down in the second
and obviuosly she's a lot more experienced and so she knows how to handle the situations a little better
than I do. I buckled down in the third set and just said I'm going to give it my all either way.
Q: Have you seen Sesil play before?
A: Am I playing Sesil? Karantantcheva? Yea, we're good friends from Bollettieri's Sports Academy. We played
in juniors not too long ago. We haven't played that much lately. I saw her a little today.
Q: What do you think you need to do to beat her?
A: I just have to go out and play my game; really move the ball around a lot; really be aggressive. She's
very aggressive and she's very consistent so I'll have to be on top of my game to win that match.
